What Our Clients Say About Us

“Thank you so much Brett for doing such a beautiful repair and re-pointing job on our house.  It’s completely revived the look of our Federation Style Fremantle house and we’ve had several compliments on the stonework from onlookers.

Your work is flawless and to top it off you’re a really nice guy.

We hope to use you again for any future houses.”

“To Whom it May Concern,

October 2018, St Stephen’s Anglican Church, Toodyay WA

Brett has worked hard on our 1860’s church building, replacing friable and crumbling bricks and repairing a number of serious cracks above and below the windows.  A newer extension was strengthened with heli-bars along the cracks between the old and newer section of the building.

Brett is on time to work and puts in a hard day’s work.  The vagaries of the weather have left him in cold, wind, rain and storm as well as the warmer days.  We are delighted with the results of his labour.

We decided to have a time for people to come and inspect the process and Brett was great with meeting the public and answering their questions.  Many gave to the project after they had come and seen the work.

The final stage will include the placing of a time capsule under a brick which has been identified by a cross on it, near the church entrance.  As a church and Toodyay community we are delighted with the restoration work and believe it will allow our building to continue to be a wonderful historic building in the centre of our town.

Brett also completed some work on cracking to the walls at Bolgart Anglican Church, again time and weather had caused a significant number of cracks to appear in the walls of the church.  Rods were installed to repair the damage and there is now no evidence of the issues that were dealt with.

Brett provided photographs to prove that work had been indeed done under the new lime cement.  The small church is now well placed to continue its part in the town’s life without the deterioration to its structure.  Church members are delighted with the result inside and outside.”

“Brett Chaney is an “old school” craftsman.

He genuinely loves creating and interpreting what the customer wants.  He has completed two pieces of work for us in a Crackenback stone, an internal fireplace and external wall cladding.

We have no hesitation in recommending Brett and his work.  But beware… stonework is addictive!”

“I originally approached Brett Chaney Stonemason to quote us on cladding the front façade of our house.  Brett was polite, on time and helped point out potential problems.  He offered advice on issues that other businesses in his line of work had neglected to point out to us.  After completing the work within two weeks, the end result was stunning.  We have had many compliments and I still admire his handiwork on a daily basis.

What I liked about Brett was that he was always on time, delivered what he promised and was courteous and polite to my family.  I found the experience to be rather uplifting after a long run of second rate tradesmen.  I would not hesitate to recommend Brett Chaney Stonemason to potential customers needing their house stone clad.”

“Hi Brett,

Just a note of thanks for a great job.

We try and get three quotes, this is a lot harder said than done, so it was a pleasant surprise right from the start.  You always called, always on time or called ahead to let us know if you were running a little late, just this simple courtesy was greatly appreciated and stands you out from the crowd.

It was also refreshing to meet someone honest enough to admit they were very busy and the time frame we wanted the job done in was not possible.  After locking in a date we were very happy you thought of us when another job cancelled and therefore could fit our job in sooner.

Brett due to your friendliness and good humour it was so easy to discuss what we wanted and after looking through your portfolio with very helpful suggestions from yourself we achieved the look we wanted.

The workmanship was fast, professional, neat and done with lots of laughs and a few adjustments that took our home from this to this.

We would recommend you to anyone who wanted limestone work done.”

He is a responsible, pleasant person with high quality workmanship and we would be pleased to recommend him and his work to anyone.”

“Our neighbour referred us to Brett, they had a wonderful double sided stone fire place built, and it was the focal point of their house renovation.

We recently built a new home and employed Brett to construct a stone fire place and feature stone wall at the front of the house.

After encountering numerous tradespeople who had absolutely no regard for our new home it was a very pleasant experience to have someone such as Brett who was very clean and very polite.

Of course his best attribute was his craft.

Everyone who has visited tells us the very first thing they notice is the stone work!

Thanks Brett.”

“Thankyou Brett for helping us bring our old girl back to life.  Your amazing chimneys were the start of her transformation.  She also has her windows and doors framed as they should be, with matching bricks, white mortar and in the original style.

Your personality, professionalism and genuine care for your work is a credit to you.

You are welcome anytime.”

“The restoration of our C1900 stone and brick shearer’s quarters is nothing short of stunning.  From the outset Brett shared our vision and then enhanced it.  As an Engineer it was important to me that the restoration was structurally sound to ensure that this iconic building would last at least another 100 years.  Brett readily adapted to new technologies which he creatively blended with his traditional methods and knowledge.  Brett’s meticulous stone masonry drew onlookers from the local community and by-passers in general as the building was transformed over four months.

Recommended to us by our neighbours where he had worked on their C1907 homestead and surrounding out buildings, Brett has proved himself as a master craftsman.

It has been a pleasure watching Brett work, seeing his own pleasure in the project, his pride in his work, his knowledge and his passion for stonework and appreciation of heritage buildings.  We found him to be a solid and at times seemingly tireless worker.

His honesty, integrity and trustworthiness was greatly appreciated as he had the run of our property in our absences.  We recommend Brett without hesitation and look forward to working with him again when he returns to continue with us for the upcoming stages of our restoration project.”
