About Brett Chaney

Brett Chaney has more than 30 years’ experience in his profession. He commenced his trade in the UK working on numerous projects, including restoration and new builds, while learning how to carve stone.

In the six years Brett has been in Perth he has undertaken scores of different jobs where he has had the opportunity to exhibit his craft.

A landmark job is The Range in Toodyay, built from natural granite. This entailed 18 months.

He also worked as a Stone Mason on Rottnest and Historic Burt Street in Boulder, Kalgoorlie. He has worked on Scottish House in Phillimore Street, Fremantle, Fremantle Prison and helped build the torpedo mount on Monument Hill, Fremantle.

In addition he has also worked on many feature walls and fireplaces in and around Perth, many of which are shown in the gallery.

Our Services

Feature Walls

Feature walls are a good example to show Bretts skill, especially in Toodyay Stone which has become his speciality. He looks for balance in stone sizes and colour to give it an even finish and easy on the eye.

Restoration

Restoration is where Brett cut his teeth in stonemasonry. Using his skill in both bricklaying and stonework he has already worked on many prestigious jobs in WA. At the time of writing this Brett is restoring an old sheep station built in 1900.

Water Features

Stone water features are becoming more popular and Brett has built them out of both cladding and solid stone.

Stone Carving

Brett has been trained in the UK in stone carving and is where Brett shows his artistic side. Brett has carved house plaques in slate and stone and is happy to take on work in all aspects of stone carving.

Stone Steps

Solid stone steps are a rarity but Brett has built them on the Range in Toodyay. Each step was shaped from the local granite, but even in this Brett looked for balance in sizes to give a pleasing finish.

Stone Cladding

Cladding is stuck on the wall with glue, but done correctly it can give the appearance of solid stone work. When applicable Brett looks for size and shape to give balance and the results are compelling. Brett has a vast experience in Stone Cladding.
